You tell couples who pay EADA close to FIFTY POUNDS for registration "It is your right to compete where you wish but EADA will not assist you when IDSF attempt to deprive of your legal and human rights." This you define as doing a good job? I respect the fact that you responded although I cannot respect that you considr it stupid or "cringe" worthy and most certainly I cannot respect that you evade clear answers and shed responsibility for the actions that EADA should be taking to protect their members against the threats and intimidation of the IDSF.

Perhaps a better attitude towards people questioning you and EADAs motives is needed? Not only does this disrespect others who reply via this forum but shows you in a bad light. Your words indicate that you believe you are above this forum and answering normal peoples questions. I have no doubt that you are doing what you think is the best you can... but sometimes it can be seen as "just not good enough." EADA has clearly stated in many posts on the EADA forum and elsewhere on dance related websites that it will support IDSF in placing sanctions on EADA members if they compete in non IDSF registered competitions. My thoughts have always been, why can EADA not support it's actual members who are paying the fee to compete in England. However, I am not going to waste my time expressing my opinions to Colin (And EADA) because it doesn't seem to make much difference either way. When you are asked questions - you sidestep them so I will not waste time asking you why you think "doing a good job" is refusing to asisst the people who pay close to £50 for registration to EADA but instead chose to back IDSF. When we end up paying EADA to let IDSF "Deprive us of our legal and human rights" Sorry - but is this not somewhat ridiculous? Retorical question there Colin - no need to answer. IDSF use threats and intimidation to force it's members into doing what IDSF want them to do. To them amateur dancers are just puppets and by supporting them EADA is pretty much going along with this way of treating the members of their organisation. However - as usual Colin, nothing will be done about it so why do we bother?! Retorical Question again there, don't worry yourself.

He has been in constant discussion and negotiation with the IDSF Presidium and other member countries about various IDSF policies and international matters. Do those posting have any suggestions for what EADA should do? I believe the members would want to keep the ability to represent their country in World and European Championships and I don't know how EADA could afford legal fees to back every member (which could number 2500). I'm sorry that it seems that some do not believe EADA put English dancers first. In an increasingly turbulent political climate, the committee, (all of whom are volunteers) are working hard to represent Amateur dancers' interests, both at home and abroad, and improve the services we offer to our members. As publicity officer I can say that we do listen to comments made to us and we act wherever possible. We are striving to improve despite the difficult times - I'm sure we all wish everything could be solved simply.

Ego mania is a silly thing. I am sincerely sorry but I think I will scream if I once more read about the poor hard working "volunteers" to whom everyone should be eternally grateful and never criticise. Those who do not like the conditions and wish to proclaim both martyrdom and sainthood really should reconsider their position. I think many people realised "the President" and his wife were having a freebie visit to Macau but his response will probably be as loud as his response you promised on the FIDS with IDSF support ban on Junior Blackpool issue. Presumably you mean the IDSF versions which are CLOSED and limited to IDSF members. Fact is EADA members could dance in the IDSA or IDU versions and then there is the WDC Am League World Championship which is OPEN to all competitors from all associations. People claim the standard of dancing is bad . Think again because WDC Am League couples achieved at both UK and the British Open final and semi final status and won titles. In any event participation in an IDSF European or World Championship is limited to a very small % of members. Why punish the majority for this? Should the tail wag the dog? Let us also remember IDSF adjudication is very ANTI England. You write "I don't know how EADA could afford legal fees to back every member (which could number 2500)". First and most important IDSF in a Press Release stated that bans and punitive action were against the Treaty of Rome and European Trade Legislation. As a member of the IDSF Legal Commission thee EADA President should be fully aware. EADA need only bring one action on behalf of all members BUT the fact is in Europe a precedence has been set. It has been established as a couples legal right. All EADA need do is inform IDSF they will no longer be party to IDSF threats and intimidation. Now IDSF might then expel EADA. Big Deal! Report this to the IOC and the British NOC and if other countries finally found the courage to stand up to bullying and the IOC was receiving many complaints and so too were many NOCs there just might be a huge change. Must say was brave of you to act in a way that would make your fellow "cringing" committee members consider you stupid. Bit more bravery from the top and there could be real change for the better. Lets hope that "The President" will return and announce he did serve the very best interests of English Amateur Dancers EADA will respect the law and in the future EADA members are free to compete wherever they may choose with full EADA support.

The EADA Council are considering all options and we await to hear the outcome of the latest discussions. I'm sure our members would not want us to make a quick decision which might have long-term, far-reaching implications for a lot of people. I'm sure the matter will arise for discussion at the AGM in November and members can voice their opinions.

How will they be different in an e-mail or are you hoping for an IP address? A quick decision! Are you joking? Come On have you no idea how long this position has been rumbling on and EADA sit quiet. failing to protect and support their members. Now you suggest the AGM in November members can have their say and as usual be ignored but in the interim EADA will enforce IDSF intimidation and threats. Cervia, Assen will have come and gone. By their tacit acceptance of IDSF own admitted questionable actions EADA agree with and support such bans as happened at Junior Blackpool. Pretty disgusting.

EADA does not enforce "IDSF intimidation and threats" we merely advise couples at this stage not to compete in non-IDSF events. We listen to all suggestions from our members and have implemented suggestions following their comments. I prefer to receive all comments/suggestions by e-mail so that I have something definite sent to me to act on. I'm afraid I can't check every post on every dance-related Forum so I ask people to contact me.

IF EADA oppose the IDSF supported ban on Junior Blackpool then be consistent and oppose the IDSF ban on Cervia, Assen, Paris. etc. EADA cannot pick and choose which bans it supports and does not. Just tell the EADA members they can dance where they choose with full EADA backing. Anything else is double standards from EADA. P.S. What "action" did EADA take over Junior Blackpool. Simply saying to IDSF who ignored EADA "we do not agree" was pretty useless.

I believe all the council members would personally love a world in which a dancer could compete in any competition they chose, but alas there are restrictive practices, both at home and abroad, that we are all constantly faced with. When the situation first arose EADA made enquiries with regards to its legal position.

Shell I do respect you for pushing the EADA line BUT time for a reality check and I mean that in the most polite way. IF and I say again IF EADA does not support bans then make that a stated policy and follow it. Do not allow the IDSF intimation and threats to be enforced through lack of backbone on the part of EADA. So no one dances for England (and gets bad results) in IDSF events who cares? There are now many many international events where EADA members can compete. Intimidation, threats have no part in the civilsed modern world.
