Lets say 1minute per dance per couple. allow 30 seconds for applause and couples to change over. Thats 18 minutes per dance. A 90 minute semi final to be followed by a 6 couple 45 minute final! Lord help the audience if the time allowance went to 2 minutes per dance that is a 150 minute semi followed by a 90 minute final. Have a sleeping bag handy and order breakfast whilst you are there! Come On they have to be joking. If this is the nonsense that comes from "the Olympics Nightmare" let us hope it never sees light of day.

Sambatogo doesn`t think the IDSF or anyone else would have to worry! As no competition organiser would be running an IDSF sanctioned competition as it is not going to be workable for anyone.

The God "IOC" must be served. Imagine dancing say 1minute then waiting 12 minutes to do one more 1 minute dance and then wait 12 minutes to do the next and so on. Hothing more clearly shows the total lack of understanding for competitors when the non dancers come up with all these crazy notions

With the introduction of longer individual dances, there is a possibility of exhaustion, related health risks ....thereby need for health insurance and longer rest periods between individual dances. Are we not predicting a moneys earning potential, and ability to safe by today's Junior / Juvenile dancers who will be Seniors in 2030-40 ? Bless their hearts. God save and look after the interests of the competitors currently paying the price, and being used to pave the road to attain the Olympic dream.

Just goes to show a typing error of only one letter and totally changes the sentence. But please lets not get bogged down on Seniors (as important as they are to dancesport) and concentrate on the absurdity of the proposed new scoring system.

It is not Nina who recognized and includes Senior III as IDSF dancesport Atheletes ! The recognition comes with responsibility and liablility. Can you blatently disregard the suggested ? Since Organizer cannot discriminate based on age you may end up with a longer break between the longer individual dances/and heats for all ages. The suggested solos reflect dissatisfaction with the present judging system. At present, the skating system is the best dancers and judges have , but it is certainly a far cry from a fair system, something discussed in many other forums and threads. Obviously IOC does not accept skating system which is based on a non-standardized measurement of athletic performance. The solos may take longer, may frustrate and upset, but you and I know IOC only provides guidance to the Olympic Sport applicants, and unless IOC is satisfied, dancesport has even less chance of becoming an Olympic sport. It is IDSF which must find a way to meet the IOC criteria and since they value the IOC recognition, they will try anything and probably at any costs ( especially if it cost them little or nothing ) to keep the Olympic Dream burning.

No matter how much benefit of doubt is given you come back to it being an absurd. At the end of the day you will still have subjective opinion because dance is not part of the faster, further, heavier, higher, stronger variety. No matter what guideline you lay down it is always subjective opinion just as now. Only difference is new system a judge will have the opportunity to mark all 12 semi finalists 9:5and say "I marked you well". Perhaps the answer is let a computer whizz kid come up with the "perfect couple" Programme that in and let the computer judge. Couples against the perfect image. Think of the money saved. Only one computer needed. I joke but that is as sensible as the new suggested absurd system..

The computer, long distance, short circuit video judging from far away, even by expert like Marcus Hilton, had been proposed and the suggestion killed by the expert(s) who knows about the camera angles, finesse of resolution. pixels, camera positioning etc. Experts such as Peter. I do not disagree with you. Seeing and comparing dance skills of those semifinalists who just happen to have received enough undeserved recalls to make S/F could be quite a spectacle, and may even result in the adjudicators taking an extra care. Now , the proposed idea may be interesting if there are 5-6 rounds and the comp is focused, with limited number of other events, however, what if the local IDSF competition consists just of a semifinal with lets say 14 couples ? Would the paying spectators be put through the torture of seeing solo eliminations for the most of the evening ? You might as well have a S/F and select 1,2,3 , There would be little need for a Final, unless the judges cannot take notes, and suffering of Alzheimer
