True. The computer, long distance, short circuit video judging from far away, even by expert like Marcus Hilton, had been proposed and the suggestion killed by the expert(s) who knows about the camera angles, finesse of resolution. pixels, camera positioning etc. Experts such as Peter.
I do not disagree with you.
Seeing and comparing dance skills of those semifinalists who just happen to have received enough undeserved recalls to make S/F could be quite a spectacle, and may even result in the adjudicators taking an extra care.
Now , the proposed idea may be interesting if there are 5-6 rounds and the comp is focused, with limited number of other events, however, what if the local IDSF competition consists just of a semifinal with lets say 14 couples ?
Would the paying spectators be put through the torture of seeing solo eliminations for the most of the evening ? You might as well have a S/F and select 1,2,3 , There would be little need for a Final, unless the judges cannot take notes, and suffering of Alzheimer
